We played with Kevin Morby the other night in Portland, and since then I have become a pretty big fan. I mean, as big a fan as you can be after only three or four days. He only has a few songs on Spotify, which is my primary source of music for this tour. But I really love everything on there. I especially like the song Harlem River. He played it live and I fell in love with it then. It kind of sounds like there is a ghost living in the song.
It was a really cool show to play, also. We had an early show at Slabtown in Portland the same day and a guy, Duffy, from Gnar Tapes came by and offered us the Kevin Morby show about an hour or so before we played the first show. So basically right after we played Slabtown we packed up and drove to the Bunk Bar and unloaded again. It was the first show in a long time where the bar didn’t allow us to stay in for the show. Kelli and I waited up stairs while the first band played. After we played they let us wait outside by an open window to watch Kevin.
Also, this is totally unrelated, but the bar had these tater tots covered in mole sauce. It’s one of the best things I’ve eaten on this tour so far, so if you go to the Bunk Bar in Portland, order them.
